Life at Lost Tree Village
Lost Tree Village in North Palm Beach is a gated community of about 450 acres that runs from the Atlantic Ocean to Little Lake Worth and the Intracoastal Waterway. Its private club brings together an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course, an oceanfront beach club, tennis and a spa, with homes ranging from oceanfront estates to golf cottages and condominiums.
I would begin a Lost Tree Village visit by driving from the ocean side to the lake side, because the setting changes so much from one street to the next. Seeing the beach club, the course and the water before comparing individual homes makes it easier to judge which part of the village fits the way you would live.

The setting
What is the setting like from the ocean to the lake?
Lost Tree Village sits on about 450 acres with the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Little Lake Worth and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Seminole Golf Club to the north and John D. MacArthur Beach State Park to the south. Homes are set among mature tropical landscaping, and the community has grown since its founding in the early 1960s, when the society architect John Volk was part of the founding team. On a visit, notice how the outlook changes between the oceanfront, the golf course, the lakes and the Intracoastal.

The homes
Which kind of home would suit your household?
The village offers several distinct ways to live: oceanfront estates, homes on the Intracoastal and Little Lake Worth, many with private docks, golf course estates, golf cottages, club suites and oceanfront condominiums. A number of the original homes have been replaced over the years with larger new residences. When you tour, compare the outlook, the lot, the dock if there is one, and the walk or drive to the beach club and clubhouse.

Golf
How would golf fit into your week?
The 18-hole course was first laid out by Mark Mahannah in the early 1960s and redesigned in 2002 as a Jack Nicklaus Signature course, with Kipp Schulties. Golf Digest lists the club at 11520 Lost Tree Way. During a course visit, play or walk the holes you would enjoy most often, and ask about the practice facilities and the club’s playing customs.

The beach club
What would a day at the beach club look like?
The private beach club sits on the ocean with a pool, a restaurant for lunch and dinner, and eight Har-Tru clay tennis courts with a tennis shop alongside. A spa and health club offer fitness classes and treatments. Spend some time at the beach club on your visit and picture how often you would use it for meals, tennis and time by the water.

Community life
What would everyday life here look like?
Beyond golf and the beach, the village has its own chapel, with Sunday services in season, and the Pelican Club, a gathering place on Lake Worth that hosts community events through the year. The clubhouse, about 56,000 square feet, was built around a theme of understated elegance. Ask the club and the property owners association about the events, schedules and guest arrangements that matter most to you.

Would Lost Tree Village fit the way you want to live?
Lost Tree Village is worth exploring if you would like the ocean, the Intracoastal and a private club within one gated community. I would arrange a visit that covers the beach club, the course and two or three home settings, so you can compare an oceanfront, golf or lakeside outlook side by side. Club and association arrangements should be part of the conversation from the start.
- Would an oceanfront, golf course or lakeside setting suit your household best?
- How often would you use the beach club, tennis and golf?
- What club and association arrangements apply to the home you are considering?
