Waterfront & Boating
Bridge references, operating schedules and marina research for a more informed waterfront home search.
Official sources reviewed October 7, 2026
Start with the boat and its actual route
Air draft, water draft, tide, dock configuration and the route to an inlet all matter. A waterfront address alone does not establish that a particular boat can reach open water. Have a marine professional verify the entire route and the dock’s permissions before relying on boating access in a purchase decision.
- Confirm your vessel’s air draft in its operating configuration, including antennas and equipment.
- Read the chart’s clearance datum and whether a figure describes the closed span, open span or center of the channel. Those qualifiers are not interchangeable.
- Check current water levels, shoaling, construction, operating restrictions and dock or marina requirements.
NOAA bridge and clearance references
Use NOAA’s current Electronic Navigational Charts to inspect the bridges along your route. This guide links to the chart source; it does not publish a validated local clearance inventory. Historical chart figures should not be treated as current clearances.
Verify the date and the datum. A charted vertical clearance is a reference, not a navigation or property-route guarantee. Check the chart edition and updates, preserve its open/closed/center qualifiers, and compare actual conditions with your vessel and route.
Drawbridge opening schedules
These routine schedule summaries were checked October 7, 2026. The linked federal rules and operating notices govern exceptions; temporary deviations and security restrictions may change a planned transit.

Flagler Memorial, Royal Park and Southern Boulevard
On weekdays excluding federal holidays, 7:30–9 a.m. and 4–6 p.m., Flagler Memorial and Southern Boulevard generally open once hourly at :15; Royal Park at :30. Presidential Security Zone rules change the afternoon restrictions for Flagler and Royal Park to 2:15–6 p.m.; Southern Boulevard may close without advance notice for dignitary transit. Check the full federal rules before departure.
The county guide’s Flagler Memorial summary differs from the federal regulation. The table above follows the federal schedule for that bridge.
Torry Island: scheduled construction restriction
October 12–December 22, 2026. USACE Notice to Navigation 2026-016 states that Point Chosen (Torry Island) Swing Bridge need not open from 8 a.m. October 12 through 8 a.m. December 22, 2026. A suspended work platform reduces vertical navigation clearance to 8 feet. Emergency vessels may pass when safe; vessels that fit beneath the reduced clearance may pass without an opening. Route 1 across the open lake remains available according to the notice.
The notice’s detailed authorization supplies these 8 a.m. operating times; its metadata displays different timestamps. Recheck the current notice and actual water level before transit.
Bridge contacts
The county’s published contact, 561-233-3975, is the Bridge Superintendent’s administrative number. It is not identified as a direct bridge tender line. Direct tender telephone numbers have not been independently verified for this guide; consult the current operator and Coast Guard information before making a transit plan.
Marinas and fishing resources
Use the existing marina finder to explore locations and services. Confirm slip dimensions, depth, availability, liveaboard rules, storm plans and the vessel’s route directly with the marina.
